Frank Takes

About me

I am a PhD candidate within the Algorithms research cluster at the Leiden Institute of Advanced Computer Science (LIACS), the computer science department of the Faculty of Science of Leiden University, The Netherlands.
From 2004 to 2010 I studied Computer Science (MSc) at Leiden University; during this time I also followed various courses in Business Sciences.

Research

Currently, I am involved in the NWO-funded COMPASS project.
In particular, I am working on temporal graph analysis, with online social networks as one of the application areas.

• Guest Lecture on Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for the master course Software Engineering (fall 2011).
• Guest Lectures on HTML/CSS and PHP/MySQL for the bachelor course Studievaardigheden (fall 2010 & 2011).
• Guest Lecture on Afstanden in Sociale Netwerken (dutch) at the "DLF Lunchlezing" (spring 2011).
  This lecture was also presented in a slightly different format at the Rabobank Social Networking Event in April 2011.
• Assistant Lecturer of the master course Topics on Parsing and Formal Languages (fall 2010).

• Teaching assistant for the bachelor course Artificial Intelligence (spring 2011 & 2012).
• Teaching assistant for the bachelor course Programmeermethoden (fall 2010 & 2011).
• As a student, I was student-assistant for the bachelor courses Algoritmiek (spring 2007 & 2008), Fundamentele Informatica 2 (fall 2006, 2007 and 2008) and mentor for Studievaardigheden (2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008).

• Master thesis co-advisor for Adrian Kentsch (2011), and several ongoing ones.
• Bachelor thesis co-advisor for Oswald de Bruin (2010) and Iris Hupkens (2011).
