Onderzoek
Het onderzoek van het LIACS is breed georiënteerd. Er zijn vijf onderzoeksgroepen, die zich bezighouden met de nieuwste ontwikkelingen op hun eigen gebied, alsmede onderzoek op het gebied van Bio-Informatica. Samenwerking met grote bedrijven en onderzoeksinstellingen in binnen- en buitenland is eerder regel dan uitzondering.

Algorithms,

Research on methods and techniques for algorithm design and analysis, with an emphasis on algorithms and architectures for larger data volumes as well as on natural computing.
Computer Systems,
prof.dr. Ed DePrettere & prof.dr. Harry Wijshoff (heads).
Methods and techniques for the design, implementation and application of advanced computer systems, in particular parallel, distributed and embedded computer systems.
Foundation of Software Technology,
prof.dr. Farhad Arbab & prof.dr. Joost Kok (heads).
Development of formalisms, methods, techniques and tools to design, analyze, and construct software systems and components.
Imagery & Media,
dr. Michael Lew & dr.ir. Fons Verbeek (heads).
Research on methods and techniques for the analysis and synthesis of images, pattern recognition, image fusion, 3D reconstruction and visualization, computer vision, imaging systems, image search, media technology.
Technology & Innovation Management,
prof. dr. B.R. Katzy (head).
Transdisciplinary research into the interrelationship of information technology innovation and social, organizational, and business change.
