Graduation Procedure

The formal date of graduation is the date on which you have met all the requirements of the MSc in Computer Science program. This date is recorded in your transcripts and also on your diploma. This date coincides with the date on which you have received a satisfactory grade for the last required component of your approved program of study.

Students who are close to graduation can apply for participation in the Master’s Graduation Ceremony. The Graduation Ceremony takes place five times a year in the Academic Building, Rapenburg 70. In this ceremony you will receive the MSc in Computer Science diploma from the Examination Board. Friends and family are more than welcome to witness this formal and festive occasion.

Upcoming possible master graduation dates can be found in the Agenda.

Application for Graduation

Students who are close to graduation, apply for the Master’s Graduation Ceremony in the following way:

  1. Contact dr. J.M. de Graaf (academic adviser) or Riet Derogee (program coordinator) who will verify that you have met (or soon will meet) the requirements of your approved program of study.
  2. At the latest five weeks before your chosen date of the Master’s Graduation Ceremony, submit your application to Mrs. Bertie ten Hove, the secretary of the Educational Centre (Dutch: Educatief Centrum, Gorleaus Laboratory, room 2.06, phone: 071-5274282, Opening hours: Monday to Thursday 10.00-15.00) by providing her with:
    • Bachelor’s degree certificate
    • A proof of admission to the master’s programme
    • Proof of registration at the university (Dutch: collegekaart)
    • Check your personal information (name and date of birth) in uSis. This is important because the diploma is based on these data.
  3. Hand in an electronic version of your Master Thesis (including cover page, which is available at the Documents page) and send it by e-mail to the secretary Marloes van der Nat (room 155, Snelius Building). She also provides the "internal report number" that is needed on the cover page of the thesis.
  4. At the latest five weeks before your chosen date of the Master’s Graduation Ceremony, all examination results should be handed in to Mrs. B. ten Hove of the Educational Centre (including the grades for your master’s thesis or other projects or course work).
