Programming Methods for the Development of Portable Parallel Software
Members of the project team
Problem description
The growing diversity of computer architectures has led to a
plethora of architecture-specific programming methods.
Architecture-specific software is not portable. Software that is
designed in an architecture-INdependent way generally is difficult
to executed efficiently.
This research is aimed at the development of a programming method
that yields programs which combine portability and efficiency.
The method should help designing parallel algorithms (not complete
applications such as databases or information systems).
Cooperation with
Deliverables
A programming method for constructing parallel programs that are
portable as well as efficiently executable. In order to obtain
such programs it is essential to separate the correctness and the
complexity aspects during the design phase. Special attention is
given to methods for refinement and programming using skeletons.
