Singing Computers
Nellie & the Drummers are a new concept in multimedia and pop music, cyberpop 2000, a computer created rock band combining computer-generated vocals, MIDI based computer-generated music, and 3D animated characters, with Quicktime movies and songs in mp3 and RealAudio streaming audio. All audio and video are generated on the desktop. Listen to some songs by Nellie and the Drummers, popular cyberpersonalities. You can find a whole selection of CD-ROM game songs. The music covers a broad range of styles, but all are computer generated, with synthesized vocal tracks.
Warning: The songs all require RealPlayer, and unfortunately, you know what that means. |

Robot Guard-Dragon Unveiled in Japan
13:20 14 November 02
This guy roans your house on the lookout for intruders or smoke. If sensed, the Gaurd-Dragon can "scream" to wake you up or phone you on your mobile phone, too. In "pet mode", though, it can obey your commands to "sit" or "shake", for exmaple.
Sanyo and Tmusk plan to start taking pre-orders in December, and to start sell an initial batch of 50 of the robots for about $16,400 next year.

Panotools is Prof. Helmut Dersch's free stitching/remapping software. Versions are available for PC, Linux, and Mac OS 9 but not OS X. Includes Photoshop filters.
Helmut's website is currently down. If you cannot find a version elsewhere, let me know, and I will help. |
PTMac is an excellent GUI for Panotools. There are both OS 9 and OS X versions available.
PTMac truly makes Panotools far easier to use. There are also several Photoshop 7 filters for OS X available.
PTMac is the only Macintosh front end for creating panoramas using the powerful free GPL licensed Panorama Tools package. Users can create a wide variety of panorama types (spherical, cubic, cylindrical, flat, etc.) from almost any lens type including fisheye, normal and even computer generated images.
